Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the "H.O.G. Chapter Challenge?"
A. A beautiful trophy, property of the AL State H.O.G. Rally, will go home for display and bragging right until the next state rally. To earn this masterpiece, have your H.O.G. chapter register as many members for the rally, escorted rides, and compete in the biker games.
Q. What is so special about the parade?
A. First, there are two parades. Next, how many parades have gone on routes walked by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.? On Friday night, our police -guided parade will take you across the city, in front of the Capitol building, down Dexter Avenue and up seven flights of parking garage to the Cabana-Rooftop Party. And Saturday will be an exclusive, by invitation-only parade that will end as part of the closing ceremonies. The HOG's will most certainly rumble in both of these truly unique special events.
Q. Are there any advantages to registering early?
A. You betcha! Parking fees are waived for all those who register before January 9, 2009.
Q. Where is the host hotel?
A. The brand new, state-of-the-art Renaissance of Montgomery is located in the heart of downtown. Walking distance to many museums (Hank Williams & the Civil Rights), the state capitol and Grocer's Alley, just to name a few.
Q. Where do we park?
A. The host hotel has an entire floor designated as THE PIG PEN. The 7th floor of the garage is for HOGS and HOGS only! $5 a day beats the normal $11.
Q. I've seen the video by U2, "Where the Streets Have No Name." So what is the deal with the Cabana-Rooftop Party on Friday night?
A. After "Riding the River Region" all day, listen to the local rock-n-roll band, 2 Daze Gone, eight floors above downtown Montgomery. Wear your leathers, but don't forget your trunks because the pool is up there too. Need a "Rider's Massage?" The hotel is offering a special during the rally--also located on the rooftop. Did we mention this party is overlooking the capitol, Alabama River, downtown...
Q. Does Alabama have a helmet law?
A. Yes. Helmets are required in Alabama
Q. Why should I stay at the host hotel?
A. It is simple. This rally is all about riding (notice our motto: Riding the River Region). When your kickstand goes down, you can enjoy beverages, fun times and entertainment and catch the elevator home. The hotel was opened in 2008--forget about what you may think about downtown Montgomery, this is the Jewel of the South.
Q. Who said ice cream?
A. A Blue Bell Ice Cream factory ride/tour is scheduled for Friday (sorry but they are closed on the weekend). Please do not expect low-fat, processed fu-fu stuff your momma never heard of--this is pull up a chair and savor the moment ICE CREAM.
Q. Can I camp at this rally?
A. Anyone wanting to camp needs to make their own arrangements. However, we have secured a site where the games and all staging areas will be. Contact the Site Coordinator for details.
Q. How much do the attractions cost?
A. If you go on a ride, it is free. If you enter a museum or heritage display (except the Interpretative Center on Hwy 80), there might be a cost associated with your admittance.
